PM Modi departs for Russia, will participate in BRICS summit

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for the city of Kazan (Kazan) in Russia to attend the 16th BRICS summit. This is PM Modi’s two-day (22-23 October) tour for Russia where he will participate in the 16th BRICS summit to be held in the city of Kazan under the chairmanship of Russia. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts and invited leaders of BRICS member countries in Kazan.

The major theme of the 16th BRICS Summit is ‘Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security’. This summit to be held on this topic will provide an important platform for leaders to discuss major global issues.

PM Modi will be in Russia on 22-23 October. The Ministry of External Affairs is working on a bilateral meeting between PM Modi and Chinese President Jinping. Sharing details of the BRICS summit, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that along with the founding members, new members will also participate in the event. The summit will begin on 22 October followed by a dinner for the leaders on the evening of the first day.
The main day of the summit is 23 October (Wednesday). There will be two main sessions on this day. There will be a close complete session in the morning followed by an open complete session in the afternoon which will be a discussion on the main topic of the 16th BRICS Summit.

An agreement has been reached between India and China before the BRICS conference. New initiatives have been taken to resolve the border dispute that has been going on since the year 2020. The 52-month-long border tension between India and China in eastern Ladakh has been resolved. After the exercise conducted at military and diplomatic level between the two countries, an agreement has been reached on patrolling and reducing military tension on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Announcing the decision, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that since the incidents along the Line of Actual Control in 2020, we were in constant touch at the military and diplomatic level with the Chinese side. Several rounds of talks have taken place between the two countries at the WMCC and military commander levels.
Pictures of Kazan city have surfaced before PM Modi’s visit. Here people of the Indian community are also preparing to welcome PM Modi. This will be the first summit of BRICS after last year’s expansion. The BRICS group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa since 2010. It now also includes Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
