King Willem-Alexander Of The Netherlands Inaugurates New Cabinet At Huis ten Bosch Palace

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated his Dutch counterpart Rob Jetten on assuming office as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, expressing confidence that bilateral ties will gain further momentum under the new leadership.

PM Modi said India and the Netherlands share an extensive relationship across diverse sectors and voiced optimism about closer cooperation.

“Congratulations, Mr Rob Jetten, on assuming office of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. India and the Netherlands share an extensive relationship across diverse sectors. I look forward to working closely with you to add further momentum to the growing ties between our two countries and people,” PM Modi wrote on X.

India and the Netherlands share over 75 years of diplomatic relations, with cooperation spanning economic partnerships, sustainable development, water management, agriculture, health, defence and technology. The Netherlands remains one of India’s top European investors and trade partners.

The two countries also have a Strategic Partnership on Water, focusing on knowledge-sharing and collaboration in areas such as flood management and clean water technologies.

Earlier this month, PM Modi met former Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where both leaders discussed cooperation in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.

A Dutch minority government was sworn in on Monday at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague, more than 110 days after the general election held on October 29 last year. Following the discharge of the previous cabinet, 18 ministers and 10 state secretaries took oath.

The new cabinet is a coalition of Democrats 66 (D66), the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), and the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), formed on January 30. Together, the three parties hold 66 seats in the 150-member House of Representatives.
