New Delhi| In the bilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and PM Modi in Kazan city of Russia, a glimpse of the deep friendship between the two leaders was seen. PM Modi reached Kazan at the 16th BRICS summit at the invitation of Putin.

At the bilateral meeting, the Russian President said, “Our relations are so strong that you (PM Modi) will understand my point without any translation.” On this a wave of laughter ran in the room of the Governor’s Palace. Even PM Modi could not stop laughing at this statement of Putin.

After this, the Russian President recalled the ‘meaningful talks’ held during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Moscow in July.

President Putin said, “In Kazan we must take a number of important decisions aimed at further improving the activities of the association and strengthening multidimensional cooperation within its framework”. We attach great importance to our cooperation in this area, I mean our States, were at the core of the creation of the Association.”

The Russian President said, “We welcome your decision to open the Consulate General of India in Kazan”. Expanding India’s diplomatic presence in Russia will contribute to further development of bilateral relations.”

In July, during PM Modi’s visit to Russia, Putin honored the Indian PM with the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Call, Russia’s highest civilian award. Foreign Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar had appreciated the growing relations between the two countries.
