PLI: 24 companies manufacturing AC-LED lights selected, will invest 3,516 crore

New Delhi|24 companies manufacturing air conditioners (ACs) and LED lights have been selected under the Production Based Incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods. These companies have committed an investment of 3,516 crore.
38 applications received in the third round
The third round of online application of PLI scheme received 38 applications, Commerce Ministry said. After consideration of the applications, 18 new companies were elected. These include 10 manufacturing AC components and eight LED lights manufacturing companies. They have made an investment commitment of 2,299 crore. In addition, six existing beneficiary companies have been tentatively selected for upgrading to higher investment categories.
There will be an additional investment of 1,217 crore for this. In total, 84 companies are going to bring in an investment of 10,478 crore under the scheme for these items. This will produce a value of 1,72,663 crore. In the third round in October, 2024, 38 companies applied with an investment proposal of 4,121 crore.
Parts will be made in the country itself
Components like compressors, copper tubes and heat exchangers for AC will now be made in the country. There will also be manufacturing of LED chip packaging for LED lights, light management system and metalized film for capacitors.
