Passenger vehicle sales in India rose 4 percent to 3.5 lakh units in November

New Delhi| Passenger vehicle sales in India rose 4 percent year-on-year to 3,50,000 units in November. This information was received from the data released. Last month, wholesale sales in India’s domestic passenger vehicle market stood at 3,35,954 units. This is due to strong demand and increasing private consumption during the wedding season. Also, it has got support from the increasing trend of SUVs.

Sales of passenger vehicles have been 39,80,000 units in the January to November period of 2024, compared to 38,21,000 units in the same period last year. It has gained 4.1 per cent year-on-year. 1,81,531 units have been sold by Maruti Suzuki India in November. The domestic sales figure in this has been 1,44,238 units. It was 1,34,158 units in November 2023. This has increased by 5.5 per cent on an annual basis.

According to the country’s largest automobile manufacturer, there are many reasons behind the increase in sales in November, which include demand in rural markets, increase in demand due to wedding season and people’s inclination towards SUVs.

Maruti Suzuki India’s rural reach increased to 48.7 per cent in November, up 2.2 per cent from the same month last year. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M Limited) has had total auto sales of 79,083 units in the month of November. In the utility vehicle segment, Mahindra sold 46,222 vehicles in the domestic market, up 16 percent.

Vijay Nakra, president of the automotive division of M&M Limited, said the electric SUVs – BE6E and XEV9E – launched this month. These new electric SUVs will start moving to market in a phased manner in late January 2025. Deliveries will begin in late February or early March 2025.

Tata Motors has grown passenger vehicle sales by 2 per cent year-on-year to 47,117 units. Hyundai Motor India’s domestic sales during this period stood at 48,246 units, while 13,006 units were exported by the company. A slight decline was recorded in the total sales of the company.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reported monthly sales of 25,586 units in November 2024, up 44 percent from 17,818 units sold in the same month last year.
