NPCI: 50 crore transactions from UPI every day in September

New Delhi| Unified Payment Interface i.e. UPI has created a new record. More than 50 crore transactions have taken place daily in September. Their value has been Rs 68,800 crore. There were 1,496 crore transactions in August. In September it grew by just 0.5% to 1,504 crore.

There were 48.3 crore transactions daily in August. They were valued at 66,475 crore. The number of transactions in September is the highest since UPI began in April 2016. Total transactions of total UPI in September were valued at Rs 20.64 lakh crore. It was Rs 20.61 lakh crore in August. The number of transactions in July stood at 1444 crore and the value at Rs 20.64 lakh crore.

According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the number of UPI transactions increased by 42 per cent year-on-year and 31 per cent by value in September. The volume of Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) transactions declined by 5 percent in September to 43 crore. In August it was 45.3 crore. IMPS transactions in value terms fell by 2 per cent to Rs 5.65 lakh crore. It was Rs 5.78 lakh crore in August. In July it stood at Rs 49 crore and Rs 5.78 lakh crore. Transactions increased by 9 per cent by volume and 11 per cent by value on an annual basis.

Fastag transactions also fell 3 percent in September to 31.8 crore. In August it was 32.9 crore. There was a slight increase in value terms to Rs 5,620 crore. 5,611 crore in August. In July, Fastag transactions were 32.3 crore and valued at Rs 5,578 crore. Volume increased by 7 percent and value by 10 percent compared to September 2023.
