No proposal to change the retirement age of government employees, Union Minister in Lok Sabha

New Delhi| The government is not considering any proposal to change the retirement age of its employees. Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh gave this information.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, he also said that the government has no policy to eliminate vacancies arising from retirement of employees. “No proposal to change the retirement age of government employees is under consideration of the government”, Singh said
Asked whether any government employees’ union or organization has demanded a change in the retirement age, the minister said, “No formal proposal has been received from the employees’ side of the National Council (Joint Advisory Mechanism)”
Asked to share details of retirement age of employees of central and various state governments and the reasons for disparity in their retirement age, Singh said, “No such data is kept centrally in the government as this subject matter falls in the state list”
