New Delhi| Navratri has started. In this ten-day long festival, Ramlila is organized in North India, Durga Puja is celebrated in Kolkata, while Dandiya Garba is played in Maharashtra and Gujarat. In these ten days this year, businessmen expect a turnover of Rs 50 thousand crores across the country. Business worth about Rs 8 thousand crore is expected in Mumbai MMR region alone (this includes other suburbs like Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan Dombivali, Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi).

Shankar Thakkar, National Minister of Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) and National President of All India Edible Oil Traders Federation, said that a business of Rs 50 thousand crore is expected from across the country on the ten-day festival of Navratri. Last year, this ten-day trade was worth about Rs 35 thousand crores. He pointed out that in Mumbai MMR alone, there would be trade worth more than about Rs 8 thousand crores. The markets are expected to become brighter during these festivals, which will greatly benefit the traders.

Shankar Thakkar says that in these ten days, tent houses for making pandals, decorative companies for decorating etc. get increased business. On this occasion, a large number of fairs and festive events are organized across the country in which lakhs of people participate. These events encourage religious faith as well as cultural unity and business activities. He says that Navratri and Ramlila festivals are not only important from religious and cultural point of view, but are also beneficial from business point of view.

During this period, more than one lakh small and big events of Ramlila, Garba and Durga Puja are held across the country. Such programs also provide indirect employment to lakhs. CAT’s National General Secretary and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal said that Indian products will be among the products sold especially on festivals. On the initiative of the Prime Minister, in view of Vocal for Local, customers should buy products made in the country. People are now disillusioned with goods made from China. Self-reliant India campaign has enhanced the quality of Indian goods across the country. The products made in the country are now better than foreign products, which is why consumers are purchasing domestic products.
