Mining: Government’s move for the well-being of people affected by mining activities to improve the efficiency of DMF and PMKKKY
New Delhi| The Ministry of Mines is considering setting up a Program Management Unit for the well-being of people affected by mining activities. The work of this unit will be to better manage the ongoing schemes for the development of the affected people along with the states and smoothly implement the Pradhan Mantri Mineral Sector Welfare Scheme.
The government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Mineral Sector Welfare Scheme (PMKKKY) in the year 2025. Under this, the money received by the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) under the Mining Act is to be used for the betterment of the affected people.
The Central Government has directed the concerned State Governments to include PMKKKY in the rules made by them under DMF and implement this scheme.
The Mining Ministry said in the information given on its website that the government is taking several steps to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of DMF and PMKKKY.
