Mahakumbh: Kumbh Police’s ‘third eye’ to keep an eye on every nook and corner

Prayagraj| During Mahakumbh-2025, every nook and corner of the fair area will be monitored with the third eye. For this, apart from CCTV cameras and drones with artificial license, high resolution cameras will be installed on mobile towers. These cameras will be of high resolution and will keep an eye on every activity happening on the Sangam coast, various ghats and major routes and will help the Kumbh Police in strengthening the security arrangements. During the Mahakumbh, the entire fair area is being monitored by the Kumbh Police with over 2,700 CCTV cameras, including more than half of the AI licensed cameras.

According to SSP Mahakumbh Rajesh Dwivedi, this time a large number of devotees are likely to come to Mahakumbh-2025. Especially during major baths, this number can reach crores. In such a situation, every officer is working diligently to maintain security as per the intention of CM Yogi and to ensure that no untoward incident happens.

In this sequence, Kumbh Police is planning to use three to four tethered cameras for the first time. These cameras are tied with a rope with a big balloon and deployed at a certain height, from where they will be able to keep an eye on the entire fair area. However, it is necessary to bring these cameras down once in 6 to 7 hours. In such a situation, there is a plan to install high resolution cameras on mobile towers. They will not have to be taken down again and again and will be able to monitor the entire fair area with their keen eyes.

He informed that the work of installing a large number of mobile towers in the entire fair area is in progress. In these, such towers will be identified which are close to major places. Like Sangam beach, the ghat where there will be maximum crowd and the main road from where maximum number of devotees will travel. These high resolution cameras will be installed on these marked towers. Due to high resolution these cameras will be able to see very far. With this, the control room will be able to get every important footage of the fair area. Through this, police arrangements can be made immediately by identifying extremely crowded places. At the same time, any kind of suspicious activity can also be monitored.
He told that it is not certain how many cameras will be installed right now. But, soon its outline will be prepared and implemented before the start of Mahakumbh fair. Kumbh Police is committed to make Mahakumbh-2025 completely safe and accessible as per the intention of the government. From security point of view, every aspect is being worked on closely. Monitoring Kumbh is an important aspect of this, in which we are working on many innovative ideas.
