Kanpur Test: Bumrah, Ashwin and Jadeja took 3 wickets each, Bangladesh pile on 146, India target of 95 runs

Kanpur| Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets each to bowl Bangladesh out for 146 runs in just 47 overs in the second innings on Tuesday, the fifth and final day of the second Test, setting India a target of 95 runs from 62 overs to win. On the last day, Bangladesh had lost only one wicket till drinks in the first session but in the second leg, Indian bowlers took seven wickets. Apart from the pairing of Jadeja and Bumrah, Akash Deep also took the important wicket of Shadman (50) as he was playing with a half century. Nonetheless India have a target of 95 runs to clean sweep the series 2-0 with two sessions of play left in the match.

It was another exciting session and India won it easily. Ashwin struck early and dismissed first innings centurion Mominul Haq (2) cheaply. Shadman Islam and captain Nazmul Shanto showed good resistance; mixing caution and aggression and sharing a 50 plus in a short time. But due to the wrong reverse sweep by the Bangladesh captain against Jadeja, the process of wickets falling started.

They went from 91/3 to 94/7 after Jadeja dismissed three and Akash Deep dismissed Shadman. Bumrah came back and took a few wickets and bowled out the visitors for 146 runs in the second innings. Bumrah played an important role in reconciling Bangladesh with three wickets for 17 runs in 10 overs, Ashwin with three wickets for 50 runs in 15 overs and Jadeja with three wickets for 34 runs in 10 overs. Akash Deep got one wicket for 20 runs in eight overs.
