New Delhi| The death toll from the continuing Israeli air strikes in Lebanon has reached 2,464. There are 11,530 people injured. This information was given by the Health Ministry of Lebanon. Israeli attacks on Saturday alone killed 16 people and injured 59 others, the ministry reported.

According to Xinhua news agency, 11 people were killed and 27 others were injured in the South Governorate, while five people died and 23 were injured in Nabatiyeh Governorate. Nine other people were injured in the Bekaa Valley.

Israeli forces have been conducting air strikes on Lebanon since 23 September. It has also launched a ‘limited’ ground operation across the border, allegedly aimed at weakening Hezbollah. Israeli attacks have killed several commanders, including Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah, and caused heavy damage to many of its targets. However, the Lebanese group is also retaliating by firing missiles at Israel.

On October 8, 2023, Hezbollah started firing rockets at Israel in Gaza, expressing solidarity with Hamas. The latest developments are an extension of this conflict. Meanwhile, the United Nations Interim Force Mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on Sunday that the Israeli army deliberately bulldozed a UN surveillance tower in Marwahin.
UNIFIL violated the dignity of the UN post and damaged UN properties, in flagrant violation of international law and Security Council Resolution 1701.” UNIFIL reminded the Israeli Forces and all other parties of their responsibilities to ensure the protection of United Nations staff and property.
