Indian Railways increased coach manufacturing by 9% in the year 2024-25, built 7,134 new coaches

New Delhi| Indian Railways made a big increase in the coach design of the train in the financial year 2024-25. In the release issued in the case, it was reported that the Railways has built 7,134 coaches in the financial year 2024-25, which represents an increase of 9 percent compared to the previous year. The Railway Ministry reported that 6,541 coaches were built in 2023-24. The ministry also said that the main reason for this increase is the efforts made by the Railways to modernize the infrastructure to meet the increasing passenger demand.

The release issued by the ministry states that in 2024-25, special attention has been given to the production of non-AC coaches. Where a total of 4,601 coaches have been made in the category without AC, which is crucial to meet the needs of the commute man’s travel.

Integral Coach Factory made record coaches
Let us tell you that Indian Railways has three major coach manufacturing units. These include Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala, Punjab and Modern Coach Factory (MCF) in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, of which Integral Coach Factory (ICF) has produced 3,007 coaches surpassing its production record for 2024-25

Railway Ministry gave information
The ministry also informed that there has been a significant increase in coach production in India in the last few years. Between 2004 and 2014, Indian Railways had built an average of less than 3,300 coaches, but from 2014 to 2024 has seen a huge increase in production. A total of 54,809 coaches were built in this period, which averages 5,481 coaches per year.

Along with this, the Railway Ministry said that this increase is the result of efforts made for better connectivity and self-reliance and ensures that Indian Railways can serve the increasing number of passengers with better facilities.
