Income Tax Return: Deadline for corporates to file tax returns extended by 15 days

New Delhi| The Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns on behalf of corporates by 15 days to November 15 for the assessment year 2024-25. This information came to light on Saturday. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a circular that the deadline of October 31 last will be extended.

The new timeline for assessment year 2024-25 (filing tax returns for FY 2023-24) is now November 15. According to Sandeep Jhunjhunwala of Nangia Anderson LLP Tax Partner, this extended period of filing tax returns will not apply to tax audit reports.

Earlier in September, CBDT had extended the deadline for filing tax audit reports by seven days to October 7.
