Impact of the festive season: Recruitment in the organized sector increased by 10 percent

New Delhi| The festive season led to 10 per cent more jobs in the organized sector in October than a year earlier. Maximum recruitment has taken place in sectors like oil-gas, IT, pharmaceuticals and FMCG. The index reached 2,733 points this time in October, compared to 2,484 in October, 2023.
Recruitments in the oil-gas sector were up 18 per cent, pharma/biotech 12 per cent, FMCG 8 per cent and IT 6 per cent. Artificial and machine learning saw strong growth of 39 per cent. According to the data, there was also a significant increase in data-centric jobs during the festive period. Data/Big Data Testing Engineers (64 per cent), and Data Platform Engineers (26 per cent) topped the list.
Another report said that due to economic challenges, the demand for design professionals in semiconductor global capacity centers has declined by seven percent in the July-September quarter of the current financial year. Government policies such as Bharat Semiconductor Mission and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes are further accelerating development.
