Hurun Global Rich List 2025: The country’s 284 billionaires own one-third of GDP’s wealth

New Delhi| The wealth of the country’s 284 billionaires has increased by 10 per cent in 2024 to Rs 98 lakh crore, or one-third of domestic GDP. The special thing is that India has left China behind in terms of average wealth of every billionaire. The average wealth of every billionaire in India is 34,514 crore compared to China’s 29,027 crore.

According to the Hurun Global Rich List, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani’s wealth has increased the most in the world by Rs 1 lakh crore. With this, his wealth has increased to Rs 8.4 lakh crore. At the same time, the wealth of Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani decreased by 13 percent to 8.6 lakh crore. However, he has again achieved the title of richest Asian. The average age of Indian billionaires is 68 years, which is two years higher than the average age of the global rich.

45 become new billionaires, 175 grow in wealth
According to the Hurun Global Rich List, 45 new billionaires have been created in the country in the past year. Simultaneously, their total number increased to 284. The wealth of 175 Indian billionaires has increased during this period, while the wealth of 109 has declined or remained stable. The increase in the number of billionaires last year has strengthened India’s position as the third largest center for the rich at the international level.

Billionaire Capital title snatched from Mumbai
Mumbai has the highest number of billionaires in terms of cities at 90. Their number has increased by 11 in the past year. Yet Shanghai, with 92 billionaires, has stripped Mumbai of the Asian Billionaire Capital title.
