Fada: Increase in sales of all categories of vehicles including passenger and two-wheelers in October

New Delhi| Total retail sales of vehicles in the country rose 32.14 per cent year-on-year to 28,32,944 units in October, 2024, driven by strong festive demand. The special thing is that due to attractive festive offers, introduction of new models, better availability and rural demand, strong growth was recorded in the sales of all types of vehicles including passenger and two-wheelers.

A total of 21,43,929 carriages were sold in the retail market in October, 2023. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), sales of passenger vehicles facing challenges rose by 32.38 per cent on an annual basis and 75 per cent on a monthly basis in recent months. A total of 4,83,159 passenger vehicles were sold during this period.

Road tax collection has also registered an increase of 33.4 per cent and 63.2 per cent on monthly and annual basis respectively due to the increase in vehicle sales. A total of Rs 9,707 crore was collected as road tax in October. This figure was 7,278 crore in October, 2023 and 5,947 crore in September, 2024.

A total of 20,65,095 two-wheelers were sold last month. This is 36.35 per cent more than the 15,14,634 two-wheelers sold in the same period a year ago. Three-wheeler sales rose 11.45 per cent to 1,22,846 units. Sales of commercial vehicles registered an increase of 6.37 per cent and tractors 3.08 per cent.
