FADA figures: Two-wheeler sales down six percent annually, car retail sales down 10 percent

New Delhi| Retail sales of vehicles declined by 7 per cent year-on-year to 18,99,196 units in February, 2025, du to a decline in demand for various categories of vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers. A total of 20,46,328 vehicles we sell in February, 2024. Retail sales of cars last month declined 10 percent to 3,03,398 units from February, 2024, according to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

A total of 13,53,280 two-wheelers were sold during this period. This figure is 6 per cent lower than the 14,44,674 two-wheelers sold in February, 2024. Sales of commercial vehicles declined by 9 per cent year-on-year to 82,763 units, while tractor sales have also seen a decline of 14.5 per cent.

Dealers’ inventory levels are still at 50-52 day levels. FADA President CS Vigneshwar said in the statement, February saw a widespread decline in all categories. Retailers started raising concerns about vehicles being cent to them with their con. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) should avoid burdening retailers with effective consignments. Most dealers are optimistically cautious about vehicle sales in March.

Hyundai slipped to fourth space in the vehicle market
Hyundai Motor India, what has long led the second position in the domestic passenger vehicle market, slipped to fourth position in terms of retail sales in February. FADA figures show that in February the company sold 20 percent fewer vehicles. Simultaneously, its domestic market share declined to 12.58 per cent. Maruti Suzuki tops the list with 38.94 percent. Mahindra & Mahindra is second with 13.15 per cent and Tata Motors is with 12.75 per cent.
