Deepotsav 2024: 55 ghats of Ayodhya to be lit with 28 lakh lamps

Ayodhya| This year, the eighth Deepotsav of Ayodhya will be celebrated grandly and divinely under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On this occasion, preparations are being made to create a new world record by lighting 28 lakh lamps on 55 ghats of Saryu river. As part of preparations for Deepotsav, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University has determined the number of lamps and volunteers, so that planned work can be done on a large scale to make this event successful.

Under the event, more than 28 lakh lamps will be lit at 55 ghats of Saryu river. Diyas at all other ghats including Ram Ki Paidi, Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat and Bhajan Sandhya Sthal will be laid under the supervision of ghat coordinators. In addition, approximately 30,000 volunteers from 14 affiliated colleges, 37 intermediate colleges and 40 volunteer entities will actively participate in the event. The number of lamps and distribution of volunteers at the ghats has already been decided.

Avadh University has also released detailed data on the number of lamps to be lit and volunteers to be deployed at the ghats. For example, 765 volunteers will be deployed to light 65,000 lamps at ghat one of Ram Ki Paidi, while 447 volunteers will assume responsibility for 38,000 lamps at ghat two.

Similarly, 565 volunteers will be deployed for 48,000 lamps at pier three and 718 volunteers for 61,000 lamps at pier four. Similarly, volunteers will be deployed at all 55 ghats according to the number of lamps. Volunteers associated with various colleges and institutions will participate in the event with full enthusiasm and will ensure proper arrangement of lamps at the ghats.

Deepotsav’s nodal officer Prof. Sant Sharan Mishra said that preparations for this Deepotsav to be organized on 30 October are in their final stages. Consignments of lamps have started arriving at the ghats from 24th October and the work of laying lamps at the ghats will also be started from 25th October. Icard distribution of volunteers has also started, out of which more than 15,000 Icards have been distributed to officials of the institutions. ID cards will be made available to all institutions by Friday.

Media in-charge Dr. Vijayendu Chaturvedi informed that the final training meeting will be held at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium on 25th October at 11:30 AM. In this meeting, all the Dean, Head of the Department, Coordinator, Principal and Ghat in-charge of the University along with the District Administration will be present. The objective of this meeting is to ensure the final preparations for Deepotsav, so that the event can be smoothly concluded on the day of Deepotsav on 30 October.
