Capacity of IIT will be increased, 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs to be established in government schools: Finance Minister

New Delhi| Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had made a big announcement regarding IIT in the budget for the financial year 2025-26. She has announced that the capacity of IIT will be increased. Announcing in the budget, the Finance Minister said that additional infrastructure will be created in five IITs. Along with this, IIT Patna will also be expanded.

Nirmala Sitharaman said, “Investment in skills and higher level education is essential for ‘Make for India, Make for the World’ manufacturing, 5 National Centres of Excellence for Skilling will be established with global expertise and partnerships to equip youth with skills”. In addition, additional infrastructure will be constructed to provide education facilities to 6500 additional students in the five IITs that have been commissioned since 2014.

She further explained, “The Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Education will be established with an expenditure of Rs 500 crore”. At the same time, 10,000 additional seats in medical colleges and hospitals will be added next year, with the goal of an additional 75,000 seats to be increased over the coming five years.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had made a big announcement regarding investment in public education and health sector. “50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs will be set up in government schools in the coming five years to promote curiosity, innovation and scientific thinking among young minds”, he said. Additionally, broadband connectivity will be provided in all secondary schools and primary health centers in rural areas under the BharatNet project. Indian Language Book Project will be implemented with the aim of making digital books of Indian languages available in school and higher education.

“Day care cancer centers will be set up in all district hospitals in the coming three years”, he said. 200 centers will be established in fiscal year 2025-26.” Presenting the budget, the Finance Minister said that our track record of development and structural reforms in the last 10 years have attracted the attention of the world. During this period, confidence in India’s capabilities and potential has increased.
