Biz Updates: ‘Navratna’ status to four companies, including NHPC-RailTel; index of house prices down to 3.3%
New Delhi| The central government has acquired ‘navratna’ status to four of its companies, Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd., National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd. (NHPC), Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. and RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has approved upgrading these companies as Navratnas. There are now 25 government-owned Navratna companies in the country. Navratna companies have autonomy to invest up to 1,000 crore without seeking approval from the Centre. The index of house prices (HPI) across the country has declined to 3.3 per cent in the June quarter. In the same period a year ago, it was down to 5.1 per cent. In the March quarter, it had been 4.1 per cent. RBI issues this figure on the basis of transactions received from the registration authority of 10 big cities. The cities on the basis of whose prices this index is prepared are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.

IOC Executive Director N. D. Mathur said, Customers can take up to 250 litres of free petrol annually from it. Reward points will also be available on every transaction. Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, who was the director of Vistara Religare Media Fund, has settled the case with SEBI by paying Rs 37 lakh. Vistara was a SEBI registered venture capital. The extension was alleged to have not closed the fund’s alleged schemes.
