Ayodhya gangrape case: Akhilesh accuses BJP of conspiracy

New Delhi| On the Ayodhya gangrape case, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav accused BJP of election conspiracy and also took a dig at UP CM Yogi Adityanath. Akhilesh says, ‘BJP wants to start a conspiracy before the elections. Their aim has been to defame the socialists since day one and their thinking especially towards Muslims is undemocratic and unconstitutional. If a ‘Yogi’ does not believe in democracy and the Constitution then he cannot be a ‘Yogi’.
Akhilesh said, “I want to give you examples of 3 incidents. The first incident is from Hathras in which BJP MLAs and leaders had written for permission for a sadhu’s program. But the administration did not make proper arrangements and the result was that a large number of people lost their lives. The SP chief further said, “You must have seen in Gomti Nagar, the police had given the complete list but the CM and the BJP government want the police to become BJP workers. When the police gave the list of all the names, then why did the CM took the names of only Yadavs and Muslims? The Yadav whose name was taken is heard that he was not in the camera footage. “He had gone for tea break and the police found a Yadav, so he was sent to jail”, he said.
And third example is Ayodhya. This is their (UP government’s) amended law 2023 which states that if someone is sentenced to more than 7 years then DNA test should be done, then what is wrong in this demand and their family members are also saying and the police know the truth…No matter how much they do, the public has no expectations of them…”, Akhilesh said.
