New Delhi| The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its inclusion in modern systems is completely changing our life and working style. From automating common life tasks to presenting revolutionary innovations, AI is shaping a future that could not have been imagined before. AI expert Nikunj Kotecha is leading this change. His works with visionary thinking are playing an important role in introducing new innovations as well as inspiring the community.

Nikunj’s journey to AI and Machine Learning (ML) began with a strong educational background. He did his Master of Science in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York, USA. In 2024, Nikunj received an AI Practitioner Certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and a certification of “Generative AI with Large Language Models” from DeepLearning.ai and AWS. “AI is an area that develops every day”, says Nikunj. Continued learning enables me to stay on the cutting edge and present innovative and impactful solutions”

From 2018 to 2020, Nikunj was a Distinguished Research Assistant at RIT’s Machine Learning Lab. They developed innovative AI solutions for American Sign Language (ASL) video translation using the latest Transformers AI models. His method was the most accurate in the field at the time. He published research papers based on this method called “Deep Learning Methods for Sign Language Translation” and “Dynamic Cross Feature Fusion for American Sign Language Translation”, which proved to be an important contribution to the AI community.

From 2021 to 2023, Nikunj served as Senior Solutions Architect at Brainchip, where he led the development of Akida AI Technology. His innovations include the development of Temporal Event Based Neural Networks (TENNs) and the Meta TF Software Development Kit (SDK), which improved efficiency and accuracy in neuromorphic computing. In addition, he developed the “edge box” with neuromorphic technology for low power AI solutions and formed strategic partnerships with other technology companies.

Along with professional achievements, Nikunj has also played an important role in empowering the AI community. In 2024, he served as a judge on several hackathons, where he evaluated cutting-edge solutions in AI, mobile app development, and game design.

Nikunj also gave a webinar on “Age AI and Model Quantization” during the “Galaxy One Hackathon”, in which he discussed effective AI model development and deployment strategies. “Hackathons aren’t just about solving problems, but motivating what technology can make possible”, he says

Nikunj has received widespread recognition for its professional innovation. Along with this, Nikunj has also distinguished himself by his commitment towards empowering the AI community. In 2024, Nikunj participated as adjudicator in several hackathons that focused on developing cutting-edge solutions in AI, mobile app development, and game design.

In the Pathcheck Foundation’s “Patient Journey Challenge”, Nikunj evaluated AI-powered patient care systems that were designed to improve the workflow of health services. Similarly, at the MediHacks 2024 hackathon, he assessed patients’ ready-made mobile applications for health care and gave expert guidance on their scalability and user impact.

At the Galaxy One 2024 Hackathon, Nikunj evaluated game design projects that had improved gaming experiences using AI. Their role at all these events demonstrated how capable they are of adapting their expertise to different challenges.

Nikunj led the Brainchip University AI Accelerator Program, which aims to provide students with knowledge and skills of the latest neuromorphic AI technologies. The program extends from Carnegie Mellon University to major institutions such as RIT, Arizona State University, and Cornell Tech.

Nikunj also initiated the BrainChip Summer Internship Program, where students worked on real AI challenges under his guidance. “Innovation requires most that students are able to use their knowledge on practical projects” says Nikunj

With the development of AI, Nikunj is moving towards progress through innovation, mentorship and empowerment of the community. “AI is not just about solving technological problems, but it’s about creating solutions that improve lives and inspire others to innovate responsibly”, he says Their commitment paves the way for AI technology to reach new heights in the years to come.

Nikunj’s influence is not limited to hackathons but is much broader than that. As a jury member at the Globby Awards for Business and the Globby Awards for Women in Business, she evaluated exceptional professionals in the AI field and honored their outstanding contributions to the field.

As a member of the AI community, Nikunj plays mentor for the Generative AI with LLM course. Here they guide participants in understanding the complexities of generative AI and mastering advanced concepts.

As an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Nikunj is offering his services as Peer Reviewer (Peer Reviewer) for the 19th IEEE International Conference on Automation Face and Gesture Recognition. His active engagement with AI’s academic and professional communities has taken the field to great heights globally.

Additionally, Nikunj is also a member of prestigious organizations such as the International Association for Highly Qualified Developers (IAHD) and the International Association of IT Professionals (IAITP). Through their active participation in these organizations, they collaborate with global thought leaders, lead discussions, and promote initiatives such as the ethical use of AI. His efforts work to bridge the gap between technological innovation and strategic leadership, ensuring responsible use of AI for the benefit of society.
