Amit Shah hails Union Budget 2026-27 as a blueprint for Viksit Bharat by 2047
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the Union Budget 2026–27, describing it as a “Viksit Bharat Budget” that lays a clear roadmap for building a developed India by 2047.
In a series of posts on X, Shah said the Budget reflects the government’s firm resolve to pursue development with fiscal prudence while empowering every sector and section of society. He noted that the Budget successfully keeps the fiscal deficit below 4.5 per cent, reinforcing confidence in India’s economic management.
Calling the Budget a milestone, the Home Minister said it proves that a self-reliant and developed India is not merely a slogan but a determined national objective. He added that the post-Covid economic policies of PM Modi have strengthened the Indian economy and positioned the country as one of the world’s most attractive investment destinations.
Shah highlighted that an allocation of ₹12.2 lakh crore for capital expenditure would accelerate the vision of a “Future-Ready Bharat,” ensuring that growth extends beyond metropolitan centres. New rail corridors, national waterways and improved connectivity, he said, would generate employment and boost economic activity in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
The Home Minister said the announcement of seven high-speed rail corridors would significantly improve inter-city connectivity and reduce travel time across key economic centres. He also welcomed the proposal for 20 new national waterways and a freight corridor linking Dankuni in the east with Surat in the west, calling it a major step towards expanding trade and commerce.
Highlighting support for MSMEs, Shah said the Budget’s three-pronged framework, backed by a ₹10,000 crore Growth Fund, would help small enterprises, especially in smaller cities, scale up through structured professional support.
Shah termed the launch of the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Yojana a historic step towards strengthening the rural economy. He said initiatives to support weavers, farmers and the handloom industry, along with schemes promoting coconut cultivation, cashew and cocoa production, fisheries development and sandalwood conservation, would enhance farmers’ incomes.
He also noted that measures to strengthen the livestock sector – through expanded veterinary services, training centres and credit-linked subsidies for dairy and poultry – would further support agricultural prosperity.
The Home Minister welcomed the decision to develop 15 archaeological sites, including Dholavira, as cultural destinations, saying it would showcase India’s ancient heritage on the global stage. He said new tourism initiatives, such as the Buddhist Circuit in the Northeast, mountain trails in Himalayan states and eco-tourism projects in coastal regions, would spur regional development and employment.
Calling the Budget youth-centric, Shah said the development of five university townships near industrial and logistics corridors would strengthen education-industry integration. He also highlighted investments in research infrastructure, AVGC labs in schools and colleges, and the proposed high-powered “Education to Employment and Enterprise” committee to align skills with emerging technologies.
He added that initiatives in content creation training, affordable sports equipment and employment opportunities across sectors such as semiconductors, IT, textiles, tourism and hospitality would empower India’s youth.

The Home Minister said the Budget takes a major step towards realising the vision of a “Healthy India,” citing initiatives such as the ₹10,000 crore BioPharma Shakti Yojana, customs duty exemptions on cancer drugs, expanded mental health services and medical tourism centres.
He also highlighted measures aimed at women’s empowerment, including plans to establish girls’ hostels in every district and launch SHE Marts to promote women-led enterprises. The introduction of the She-Mark badge, he said, would improve access to finance for women entrepreneurs.
Shah said that the Union Budget 2026-27 represents a comprehensive and forward-looking blueprint that balances growth, inclusion and self-reliance, firmly advancing PM Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
