New Delhi| Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised financial sector regulators in India. During an event in Mumbai, the Finance Minister said that financial sector regulators have done world-class work in India. According to him, it has brought better transparency in the regulatory system of the financial sector.

The Finance Minister has praised the financial sector regulators at a time when stock market regulator SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) and its chairperson Madhabi Puri Butch have faced several allegations in the last few months. In recent times, Hindenburg Research and the country’s main opposition party Congress have accused the equity market regulator and its head of many irregularities.

The Finance Minister said that he is not against questioning or criticizing the regulators, but there is a need to be extremely conscious about their contributions. During the program, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asked people to look at the facts emerging in the case related to the allegations against SEBI.
