America and its allies big step amid the Israel-Hezbullah war

New Delhi| Due to increasing tension between Israel and Hezbollah, the Middle East seems to be on the brink of war. Meanwhile, America, France and its other allied countries have taken big initiatives. U.S. and its allies call for ‘urgent’ 21-day truce for talks. More than 600 people have died in the conflict between the two sides in recent days in Lebanon. The joint statement issued on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York said that the recent fighting is unacceptable and could take a widespread form in the region.
“We call for an immediate 21-day ceasefire along the Lebanon-Israel border to give space to diplomacy”, the joint statement said. We appeal to all parties, including the Governments of Israel and Lebanon, to support an immediate ceasefire.
Although there was no immediate response from Israel or the Lebanese government and Hezbollah to the appeal, senior US officials said all parties were aware of the ceasefire appeal and would remain open. Officials said that Hezbollah will not be included in the ceasefire process but they believe that the Lebanese government will talk to Hezbollah.
This cease-fire will apply only to the Israel-Lebanon border. Senior US officials said that they will try to stop the fighting for three weeks and resume the stalled talks regarding ceasefire. Those calling for a ceasefire include the US, Australia, Canada, the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
