New Delhi| Air India on Tuesday expressed hope that by mid-2025 it will complete the upgradation of its aging 27 A320 neo aircraft. The airline’s small-sized commercial aircraft with one corridor will then have three categories of seats – Business, Premium Economy and Economy. The Tata Group-owned airline will upgrade all 67 old one-aisle short-sized and wide-sized aircraft, including 40 Boeing aircraft, as part of a US$400 million repair program that began on Monday.

Upgrades have started with A320 neo aircraft and VT-EXN aircraft may rejoin commercial service in December 2024 after the necessary regulatory approvals. Three to four aircraft will be produced each month after VT-EXN, and a full upgrade of the one-aisled fleet is expected by mid-2025, the airline said in a statement
