Indian maritime zone to be connected to the global network, shipping corridor agreement to be signed between India and Singa

New Delhi| India’s maritime sector will soon be connected to the global network. For this, preparations are being made to start Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC) between Singapore and India. Both the countries are going to sign an agreement (LOI) regarding this soon. It is believed that this process may be completed during Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s visit to Singapore next week.
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sonowal will participate in Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) with a delegation from March 24 to 28. Teo Eng Dih, chief executive of Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), said, “We are thinking of issuing a letter of intent with India as a start”. This is something we are still working on.
He said that LOI is expected to be signed during Singapore Maritime Week itself, but it has not been confirmed. Teo said India is keen to export green fuels, including biofuels, to the region as well as share digital expertise. Industry observers say that GDSC Singapore will connect the Indian maritime sector with a global network. It has been recognized as one of the largest shipping and maritime trade centers in the world.
Ministers from Estonia, France, Portugal, Norway and the Netherlands will also participate in the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW). Apart from this, India Pavilion exhibition will be organized by Indian ports, shipyards and companies in the programme.
