Rail Budget 2025: Rs 2.55 lakh crore allocated in railway budget

New Delhi|Rs 2.55 lakh crore has been allocated for the Ministry of Railways in the Union Budget. Of these, Rs 3445 crore will be spent in revenue and Rs 2,52,000 crore in capital expenditure. In this way, a total provision of Rs 2,55,445 crore has been made in the Railway Budget. 66 thousand crores have been kept in the pension fund in the budget. Rs 32,235 crore will be spent to lay new lines. A budget of Rs 32,000 crore has been fixed for doubling of lines and Rs 4,550 crore for conversion to Gouge line.
How much budget has been announced for various items in Railways
The budget has fixed a budget of Rs 6800 crore for signalling and telecom, Rs 6,150 crore for power lines, Rs 833 crore on staff welfare. 301 crore will be spent for the training purpose of railway staff. At the same time, Rs 45 thousand crore will be transferred to the Railway Safety Fund.

The Railway Ministry is going to take special steps to reduce railway accidents. Under this, upgrate version 4 of Kachav on major railway routes of the country.The work of installing O will be done rapidly. The new version of Kavach has recently been approved by the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO). The ministry has not made any new announcement regarding this in the budget and instead emphasis has been laid on completing the earlier announcements. According to the Railway Ministry, the busiest routes of Indian Railways include Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata. Both these routes are being equipped with armour. Besides, armor will also be installed on Mumbai-Chennai and Chennai-Kolkata routes. In this way, there are preparations to equip a total of about 9 thousand km long track with Kachav.
There was hope of increasing the allocation on capex in Railways
According to a source associated with the Railways, the allocation on capital expenditure (capex) of the Railways was expected to be increased by 20 per cent in the coming budget. According to railway estimates, out of the Rs 2.65 lakh crore found in this item in the last budget, the railways have spent about 80 per cent. According to a top official, the Railway Board has spent more than Rs 2 lakh crore in the current financial year.
