Cabinet approves continuation of National Health Mission for the next five years

New Delhi| The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the National Health Mission for the next five years. Union Minister Piyush Goyal gave this information. He said that the Cabinet has approved the MSP of raw jute for the marketing season 2025-26 at Rs 5,650 per quintal.

Briefing reporters about the decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the mission has achieved historic goals in the last 10 years. Goyal reported that around 12 lakh health workers joined the National Health Mission (NHM) between 2021 and 2022, and India fought the Covid-19 pandemic under this mission.

The Union Cabinet approved a minimum support price of Rs 5,650 per quintal for raw jute for the marketing session 2025-26, six per cent or Rs 315 higher than the previous MSP. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal gave this information after the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Minister said that the new MSP ensures a profit of 66.8 per cent on the all India weighted average cost of production and will benefit the producers. The government has increased the MSP of raw jute from Rs 2,400 per quintal in 2014-15 to Rs 5,650 per quintal for the 2025-26 marketing season, a 2.35-fold increase.
