Mahakumbh 2025: Temporary bus stations to be built outside the city

Prayagraj| Under the direction of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, UP Transport Corporation will operate seven thousand buses for the successful organization of Divya, Grand and Green Mahakumbh Mela-2025. The Transport Corporation is committed to providing easy, affordable and comfortable facilities from all the important places of the state.

Mahakumbh fair is visited by road by more number of pilgrims from Purvanchal. In view of this, the Transport Corporation has prepared a plan to operate buses connecting the fair site with small towns of Purvanchal. A plan has been made to provide special facilities to female and elderly pilgrims.

MD Parivahan Nigam Masoom Ali Sarwar said that during Mahakumbh fair 2025, the main baths are falling between January 13 and February 26, 2025, in which the royal bath of Mauni Amavasya is on January 29 and the royal bath of Basant Panchami is on February 3, 2025. Around 6800 transport buses and around 200 air-conditioned buses are planned to be operated during Mahakumbh 2025.

In the first phase, from 12 January to 23 January, in the second phase, from 24 January to 7 February and in the third phase, from 8 February to 27 February, operations in the Mahakumbh Mela have been divided into three phases. Corporation buses will be operated on about 165 routes from a total of 19 areas of the corporation.

MD Transport Corporation said that in addition to the buses, 550 shuttle buses will be operated from various permanent and temporary bus stations and designated vehicle parking spaces on various routes to Bhardwaj Park and Bharat Scout Guide College Bank Road located near Sangam coast and to Leprosy Bus Station and Andhwa Bus Station. There is a plan to do so. He said that due to increase in huge crowd of devotees on the main bathing festival, in case of being restricted for traffic, Shastripul, Phaphamau Bridge and Yamuna Bridge, a total of 8 temporary bus stations will be formed outside the city, which include Jhusi Bus Station, Durjanpur Bus Station, Saraswatigate Bus Station, Nehru Park Bus Station, Bailey Cachar Bus Station, Saraswati Hitech City Menu and Leprosy Mission Bus Station.

MD said that buses will be operated from Jhusi bus station for Dohri Ghat, Barhalganj, Gola, Uruva, Khajni, Sikriganj, Gorakhpur route, Azamgarh-Ballia-Mau and allied routes. Durjanpur bus station will be used when the buses of Jhusi bus station are stopped by the fair administration.

Similarly, buses will be operated from Saraswati Gate bus station to Badlapur, Shahganj, Tanda and allied routes and Varanasi and allied routes, from Nehru Park bus station to Kanpur and Kaushambi for allied routes, from Bela Cachar bus station to Rae Bareli Lucknow and allied routes. And for Faizabad, Ayodhya, Gonda, Basti, Bahraich and allied routes, Saraswati Hitech City Naini to Vindhyanchal, Mirzapur, For Shaktinagar and allied routes, operations will be conducted from Laprosi Mission Bus Station for Banda-Chitrakoot and allied routes and Rewa-direct and allied routes. If the operation of buses at Nehru Park bus station is stopped by the fair administration, the buses will be operated from Bailey Cachar bus station.
