UP: Mahakumbh to be illuminated with more than 40 thousand rechargeable lights

Prayagraj| This time, there will be plenty of light in the grandeur and divinity of Mahakumbh. During the Mahakumbh in the evening, the shining light of the fair area will give an even more supernatural form to the gurgling clear stream of Ganga and Yamuna. Yogi government is going to take a unique initiative so that devotees can observe this supernatural scene without any hindrance. For the first time, more than 40 thousand rechargeable lights (rechargeable bulbs) are being used to keep the entire fair area lit 24 hours a day.
These bulbs recharge themselves and keep providing light even when the electricity goes out. Due to this, even if there is a sudden power outage due to any fault or other reason, these bulbs do not allow darkness to occur. Not only Mahakumbh, for the first time in Uttar Pradesh such lights are going to be used in a big event.
Executive Engineer Anup Kumar Sinha, in-charge of the electricity department in the fair area, said that in the electricity connection that we will provide in the fair, this time we have decided to use rechargeable bulbs along with normal LED bulbs. This time, we have to provide four and a half lakh connections in the entire fair area, so around 1/10 of that, i.e. between 40 and 45 thousand rechargeable bulbs will also be installed.
The rechargeable bulb has an inbuilt battery, which keeps charging when the light is on, when the power goes out, this battery itself keeps the bulb illuminated. The advantage of this would be that if there are 5-6 bulbs in a camp and for some reason the light goes out, then even a rechargeable bulb will keep burning, then a state of darkness will not arise.
He told that we have also arranged for backup lights, for this gensets etc. will be used on a large scale, where we will restore the supply in one to two minutes. But even in between one and two minutes, our effort is not to allow the situation of zero lights to arise. He told that these rechargeable lights will be installed only with normal bulbs. Like a normal bulb, they will also have light. If the light goes out due to any reason, the remaining bulbs will turn off, but this bulb will continue to work.
He said that out of the projects of the Electricity Department which are going on in the Mahakumbh fair area, funds will be arranged for these bulbs. Usually a rechargeable bulb costs between about 600 and 700 rupees. In such a situation, it is likely to cost around Rs 2.7 crore to install 45 thousand bulbs. However, the number of bulbs may fluctuate according to the requirement.
He told that the concept of rechargeable bulb has come just a year or two ago. Till now this experiment has not been done in any big fair or big event within the state. It is being used for the first time in Mahakumbh. Not only the camp established in the fair area, but also outside the camp, concrete arrangements are being made to ensure that there is no darkness when the lights go out.
He told that outside the camp we are arranging 67 thousand normal lights and for its backup also we have arranged 2 thousand solar hybrid lights. Solar hybrid lights are such lights, which will work continuously even when the light goes off. It has a backup of the battery, which is charged by the sun’s rays. In case the light goes out, it provides light through the battery. These two thousand solar hybrid lights are also being used to eliminate the possibility of zero lights.
