New Delhi| OpenAI, run by Sam Altman, has hired Gabor Cselle for a Secret Project. He is formerly the former CEO and co-founder of ‘Pebble’. Gabor has been working with OpenAI since October. “I am happy to share that I have joined OpenAI”, he posted on social media platform ‘X’. There are a lot of talents here and their numbers are incredible. I am already learning a lot. I’ll share more information from time to time about the work I’m doing.”

In 2022, together with Michael Greer (former Head of Engineering at Discord) he began working on Pebble (formerly called T2). Pebble raised funds from venture capitalists including Android co-founder Rich Miner. In 2023 Pebble announced the closure of its work. However, its community remained active on microblogging service.

According to a report, Pebble is back. There were previously 20,000 people registered on Pebble, but after the name change, only 1,000 people use it daily. Last month, reports emerged that ChatGPT maker OpenAI plans to launch its next AI model in December this year called ‘Orion’, potentially 100 times more powerful than GPT-4. Unlike OpenAI’s previous two models – GPT-4o and o1 – Orion will not initially be released widely via ChatGPT, according to a report in The Verge.

Orion’s expected release comes at a time when OpenAI is restructuring itself as a for-profit entity. However, OpenAI has said that it currently has no plans to launch Orion.
