Biz Updates: COAI Bola-reduction of telecommunications license fee necessary; government earns 100 crore from garbage disposal

New Delhi| Telecom industry body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has urged for early abolition or reduction of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) charges for telecom companies. Also, advocated to increase the license fee to 0.5-1 per cent of gross revenue. The body said, the justification for separating spectrum from licenses and imposing charges along with its allocation at market price had already ended.
The central government earned more than 100 crore by disposing of waste so far under the month-long Special Sanitation Campaign 4.0. Focused on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this campaign aims to partner with all the ministries and departments of the Central Government to develop the habit of cleanliness in every citizen and work actively towards an environmentally sustainable future. Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) Secretary V Srinivas said that the special campaign to reduce pending cases and institutionalize cleanliness in government departments was launched on October 2 and will continue till October 31. Srinivas said that so far more than 12 lakh files have been sorted and 97.2 lakh square feet of space has been vacated. The campaign was implemented in 2.7 lakh offices so far and generated revenue of Rs 101.48 crore from disposal of scrap.
IndusInd Bank’s profit declined by 40 per cent to Rs 1,331 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year. During this period, the total income of the bank increased from Rs 13,530 crore to Rs 14,871 crore. However, the bank’s gross NPA increased to 2.11 per cent from 1.93 per cent a year earlier.
Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) net profit rose more than 25 per cent to Rs 108.32 crore in the second quarter. In the same period a year ago, the company had made a profit of 86.46 crore. During this period, total income increased to 167.76 crore.
Adani Total Gas’s net profit increased by 6 per cent to Rs 178 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year 2024-25. During this time, the company received revenue of Rs 1,315 crore from operations. That’s 12 percent more than a year ago.
