New Delhi| In the festive season starting from Navratri, there is tremendous demand for all types of vehicles including cars and two-wheelers except tractors. Interrogation of dealers regarding vehicles has increased three times. Automobile companies are also offering huge discounts to attract customers and eliminate their stock.

Sai Girdhar, vice president of Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), said, more than 45 lakh vehicles will be sold across the country by Diwali this festive season. These also include electric vehicles. This figure is 7.07 lakh more than the total of 37.93 lakh vehicles sold in the festive season of 2023. A total of 3.2 million vehicles were sold in 2022.

Girdhar further said that compared to the last festive season, there are many reasons for selling record vehicles this time. Dealers have almost all models available in customers’ favorite colors. Barring some models, there is no waiting period i.e. customers do not have to wait to take their new car home. This time the discounts on vehicles are at their peak. Financiers are also ready to give loans. In contrast, the 2023 festive season had a longer waiting period. Dealers did not have stock and customers’ preferred models available.

In the first 10 days of Navratri, double digit growth has been recorded in all vehicles except tractors. Two-wheelers gained 12 per cent. Navratri accounts for 20 per cent of total vehicle sales throughout the festive season. A sharp improvement is being seen in rural sales. Especially in two-wheelers. Apart from this, hidden demand (paintup demand) will also affect the sales figures. Girdhar said, due to extreme heat in May-June, followed by excessive rain and then Shraddha, people postponed the purchase. Now the hidden demand is coming out and the inquiry has increased.
