New Delhi| In the first annual seminar organized by the Indian Quality Management Foundation (IFQM), Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal paid tribute to industry veteran Ratan Tata. He said that Ratan Tata led from the front in very difficult circumstances, and formed a truly international group. He made India proud with the achievements of the group.

Goyal said, “Ratan Tata played an important role in taking Brand India across the world, across borders”. He really showed the world that we can do it, that we have the ability to make a difference in the world. Despite having the image of a strict executive, he did it in a very kind manner. His leadership teaches us a lot.”

During the event, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday stressed the need to manufacture high-quality products, saying it would be very difficult to make India truly competitive without this approach. Goyal stressed that prioritizing quality will not only meet domestic demands but will also position India to serve global markets.

“This will affect our ability to create jobs, expand economic activity and sustain India’s economic growth”, he said Goyal urged industry leaders to adopt quality as a long-term change. He said that to become a globally recognized brand, India should make its products and services synonymous with quality.

In his address, Goyal acknowledged the challenges faced by India in adopting quality standards, especially the initial resistance faced while introducing quality control orders. However, he stressed that overcoming this opposition is important for India’s economic future.

“We have to embrace quality as a movement in 20-25 years, without it it will be very difficult to make India truly competitive”, he said. We have to aspire to make India a brand in the world, so that the world feels that if it is coming from India, its quality will be good, only then we will be able to become truly competitive at the global level
