New Delhi| During the festive season, a lot of purchases are being made from online platforms. In a week, the online platform has sold goods worth 55,000 crores. They account for three quarters of total sales.
Nearly 55 per cent of the festive season sales this year have been made since September 26. Last year the value of online purchases at festivals was $9.7 billion. This time it could increase by 23 per cent to $12 billion. Small towns and cities account for a large share of buyers. Some brands said, demand is coming more than supply.

Flipkart, Meesho and Amazon India start annual festive season sales from September 26. On an annual basis, Meesho said, sales showed a 40% increase. The surge comes from strong demand from second-tier cities. It had about 45% of buyers coming from a fourth-tier city and beyond.
Flipkart says that along with big cities, there is strong demand from customers in other tier areas like Medinipur, Hisar, Berhampur, Bankura and Agartala. For some years, festive sales start earlier. When the online platform started the sale, sales were very fast. Slowed down on the last day.
