No collection of toll tax until highway work is completed: CM Yogi

Lucknow| Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with various departments on Tuesday. During this, he directed to complete the ongoing special campaign to make the roads of the state pothole free by 10th October in view of the festivals like Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali etc. in the coming days.

While giving instructions to the Mandi Parishad, he said that farmers are the biggest consumers of roads. Special care should be taken for the convenience of farmers. Roads should be built using FDR method. Through this method, natural resources, money and time are saved and the quality of work improves. The repair and drainage work of all the roads under the Mandi Committee should be completed within the stipulated time. Special care should be taken of quality. While interacting with NHAI officials, the Chief Minister said that toll tax should not be collected until the construction work of the highway is completed.


Being aware of the departmental action plan for the pothole liberation campaign, the Chief Minister directed that there is no dearth of budget for roads, there is a need that all departments should do better planning. He instructed all the departments to ensure that the road building agency or contractor will also take the responsibility of maintaining the road for the next five years of its construction. The rules and conditions in this regard should be clearly mentioned. Departmental ministers and officials should conduct random visits to the field and review construction projects weekly. Accountability towards work should also be fixed. All departments should have adequate equipment for road repair and action to repair road patches should be taken on auto mode.
