Dharmendra Pradhan, Former ISRO chief assess NEET-UG re-exam preparedness

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting along with former Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman K. Radhakrishnan to review preparedness for the upcoming NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.

According to the Ministry of Education, the meeting focused on strengthening examination security and assessing surveillance mechanisms to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination. Dr. Radhakrishnan, who also heads the High Powered Steering Committee constituted to oversee the implementation of recommendations related to the National Testing Agency (NTA), reviewed the additional measures being put in place ahead of the examination.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Higher Education, the Director General of the NTA, senior NTA officials, and representatives from the Ministry of Education. During the discussions, the DG, NTA briefed the participants on enhanced security arrangements and plans to further augment surveillance systems at examination centres.

Emphasising the importance of maintaining examination integrity, Pradhan said that while security remains a top priority, equal attention must also be given to ensuring adequate facilities and a student-friendly atmosphere at centres across the country.

The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted on June 21 at more than 5,400 examination centres spread across 550 cities nationwide.
