Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised the successful conclusion of the AI Impact Summit 2026, stating that the global gathering reflected widespread appreciation for India’s technological capabilities.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the summit demonstrated that the technological vision of India’s youth would contribute meaningfully to the welfare of humanity. He noted that the event showcased India’s growing leadership in emerging technologies.
The AI Impact Summit 2026, held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact. The declaration marks a step forward in international cooperation on artificial intelligence.
According to an official release, the declaration has been endorsed by 88 countries and international organisations, reflecting broad global consensus on harnessing artificial intelligence for economic development and social good.
Guided by the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” — welfare for all and happiness for all — the declaration stresses that the benefits of artificial intelligence must be shared equitably across nations and communities.
The summit called for enhanced international collaboration and multi-stakeholder engagement, while underlining respect for national sovereignty. It also emphasised the need to advance artificial intelligence through accessible and trustworthy frameworks, and to build shared global understanding on its responsible use.
The declaration is structured around seven key pillars, described as “Chakras.” These include democratising access to AI resources; promoting economic growth and social good; ensuring secure and trusted AI systems; expanding AI applications in science; increasing access for social empowerment; developing human capital; and fostering resilient, innovative and energy-efficient AI systems.
The summit also announced several voluntary and collaborative global initiatives. These include the Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI, the Global AI Impact Commons, and the Trusted AI Commons. The initiatives aim to expand affordable access to AI resources, scale innovative use cases, and promote secure and reliable AI systems worldwide.
