5G network reached Siachen Glacier, Army said, “Great achievement”

New Delhi| Reliance Jio has started its 5 G service in the world’s highest battlefield. Indian Army’s ‘Fire and Fury Corps gave this information on ‘X’. According to the Army, Jio Telecom and Indian Army together have successfully installed the first 5 G mobile tower on Siachen Glacier. It has been deployed at a forward post in Siachen.
Jio has achieved unprecedented feat by launching 4 G and 5 G service on Siachen Glacier just before Army Day on 15 January. Jio has become the first operator in the country to start service on Siachen Glacier. Describing it as a brilliant achievement, the Army said that ‘this indomitable achievement is dedicated to our brave soldiers, who completed this challenge by being deployed in challenging conditions.’
It was very difficult to install a tower at such a height. The Army ensured the safety of the crew members including logistics. So Geo used its indigenous full-stack 5 G technology. Fire and Fury Signalers and Siachen Warriors teamed up with Geo’s team to install a 5 G tower in North Glacier. Let us tell you that the temperature in this area drops to -40°C. Cold winds and snow storms often come here.
The Army said, this step will further enhance the technical capability of the Indian Army and provide better communication facilities to the troops. Through 5 G connectivity, soldiers will get faster and reliable communication facilities, which will be helpful in their operations.
