58th IHGF Delhi Fair – Autumn 2024: Indian handicrafts get global recognition

Noida| The grand finale of the 58th IHGF Delhi Fair – Autumn 2024 took place from 16 to 20 October at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida. The event provided an important opportunity to present the Indian handicraft industry on the global stage, where the country’s leading manufacturers, National Award winning craftsmen and artisans showcased their deco-utility, work utility, premium and sustainability products. This time the fair was attended by buyers from over 100 countries. The Ajay Shankar Memorial Awards were held at the conclusion of this fair, with awards presented for the best performances in 12 categories. MP Imran Masood participated as “chief guest”. Other prominent persons included Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Shahnawaz Khan and Chairman of Handicrafts Export Promotion Council (EPCH) Dilip Baid.

Curiosity of buyers
EPCH President Dilip Baid said, “The fair has been well supported by the global sourcing community. It included 3,000 exhibitors and curated displays. Buyers appreciated the contemporary range of displayed crafts, home decor, furniture, handmade clothes, and fashion jewellery. All items were prepared according to current and emerging international market trends, which has increased their demand.”
EPCH Director General Dr. Rakesh Kumar also highlighted the success of the fair, saying, “It has attracted big international brands, importers, and retailers”. This time there has been a boom in the activities of enquiries with buyers, order finalization and sample collection

Feedback from international buyers
Ingo Winterhoff, a buyer from Germany, said, “I am always looking for special furniture and inspiration here, especially those made from Indian wood. I hope to make some great deals this time.” At the same time, Martina Mensing shared visiting this fair for more than 10 years, in which she praised the unique products of Indian craftsmanship.

Announcement of the next edition
IHGF Delhi Fair President Girish K. Aggarwal thanked all the exhibitors, buyers and media saying, “we will organize the next edition i.e. 59th IHGF Delhi Fair – Vasant 2025 from 16 to 19 April 2025. We trust it will be even grander.”

The 58th IHGF Delhi Fair – Autumn 2024 has not only given a global recognition to Indian handicrafts but also proved that the quality and variety of Indian products hold an important place in the international market.
